Southern California Edison: Virtual Discussion on Wildfire Safety
At Southern California Edison, nothing is more important than protecting the safety of our customers, communities and team members. The increasing threat of wildfires in Southern California continues to challenge our region, and SCE teams are focused on hardening the electric system. Approximately 6,500 miles of power lines have been upgraded with coated wire called covered conductor. We’ve also integrated advanced technology to further reduce the risk of wildfires. In addition to these upgrades, hundreds of miles of power lines are being moved underground in the coming years. To protect communities, Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) will continue to be an important tool during extreme weather conditions.
Virtual Livestream Topics Include:
- Understanding why and when PSPS occurs
- How to prepare for outages
- Available programs and services
- Getting support during an outage
