The increasing threat of wildfires in Southern California continues to challenge our region, and SCE teams are focused on hardening the electric system. Approximately 6,500 miles of power lines have been upgraded with coated wire called covered conductor. We’ve also integrated advanced technology to further reduce the risk of wildfires. In addition to these upgrades, hundreds of miles of power lines are being moved underground in the coming years.
